Thanks to the city’s strong economy, many are attracted to work and live in Calgary. There is plenty going on in the city, too — not least the annual Calgary Stampede. The Stampede features ten days of “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth” and celebrates everything you would associate with the old Western life. Think cowboy hats, rodeos and lots more.
That is far from Calgary’s only attraction, though. In Canada’s third-largest city, you will find plenty of great bars, restaurants, shops and other festivals to entertain you throughout the year. For sports fans, the city is also home to the Calgary Flames NHL team and the Stampeders CFL team. Added to that are scenic views, lots of green space, extensive trails, and great amenities.
Spreading out from downtown, Calgary contains a large number of different neighbourhoods, each with its own character and real estate market. Closer to downtown, buyers will find more condos for sale and as you move out to the suburbs that shifts to a greater number of detached houses for sale.
Calgary real estate is also divided into four quadrants: northwest, northeast, southwest and southeast. In Calgary’s northwest, home buyers will find a larger proportion of condos than in other areas, but also plenty of detached homes. Many homes in this quadrant are older. The northeast is where you can find more modern detached homes. In the southeast, buyers can find the newest homes and developments. The southwest offers a mixture of detached homes and high-rise condo buildings.
